Transforming five consultation rooms with a complete refurbishment.

Project Outline

Five GP consultation rooms within the health centre required refurbishment and upgrading to modern suites. The renovations also included replacing much of the plumbing, heating and electrics. 

Scope of works:
Mechanical

Isolate and remove sinks and taps for reuse.
Decommission and remove the ceiling-mounted radiant panel heating system.
Extend existing hot & cold water pipework to positions of new sinks. Add new waste pipework where required.
Installation of set aside and new sinks and taps.
Supply and install new low surface-temperature radiators.
Installation of 6″ wall and ceiling ventilation fans.
Test and commission the systems.
Produce ‘as built’ drawings as part of handover documentation.

Electrical 

Isolate existing electrical supplies to enable strip out. Removal of lighting identified for reuse. 
Installation of trunking, power and switching gear.
Installation of new 600×600 energy-efficient LED ceiling panels.
Refitting of existing reused light fittings.
Installation of Luxo LED ceiling-mounted examination lights.
Test and commission on completion.
Produce ‘as built’ drawings as part of handover documentation.

Project challenges

We were working in a live NHS building, so had to make sure all electrical isolations were carried out as required by OOH, while still leaving the healthcare centre operational.
